Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute (SKSJTI), Bangalore was established in 1938 and is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. It functions under the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.
The institute was founded under the leadership of Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M. Visvesvaraya to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnarajendra Wodeyar Bahadur’s reign. As the first institute of its kind in South India, SKSJTI was set up to provide highly skilled professionals to the textile industry.
B.Sc. (Textiles) introduced in 1946, later upgraded to B.Tech. (Textiles) in 1973.
M.Tech. (Textiles) started in 1970.
B.Tech. (Silk Technology) introduced in 1991.
Recognized as a Ph.D. Research Centre in Textile Technology by VTU since 2007-08.

The institute is also a hub for Textile Association (India), Karnataka Unit activities.
Students are encouraged to participate in sports, debates, seminars, quizzes, essay competitions, and cultural events. Annual Engineer’s Day (September 15) is celebrated on campus, marked by the statue of Dr. M. Visvesvaraya, inaugurated by former Prime Minister V. V. Giri.

SKSJTI is a beneficiary of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, receiving a grant of INR 2 crore for infrastructure and academic quality enhancement.
Library: Over 12,000 books and subscriptions to national & international journals.
Hostel: Boys’ hostel with 33 rooms and mess facilities; girls are accommodated in the Government Women’s Polytechnic Hostel within the campus.
