Sri Devaraj Urs College was established in the year 1984.

Shri.R.L.Jalappa was the founding Chairman of Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust for Backward Class.

The College is Deemed to be a University declared Under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No.F.9-36/2006-U.3(A) Dt. 25th May 2007, MHRD, Government of India.
