National Institute Of Mental Health And Neuro-Sciences
The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), established in 1974 in Bangalore, Karnataka, is an autonomous university and one of India’s premier medical institutes. Recognized as an “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India in 2012, NIMHANS was granted Deemed-to-be University status by the UGC in 1994.
The institute is highly ranked, securing the 7th position in 2025 by Collegedunia and the 4th position in 2024 by IIRF under the medical category. It offers a wide range of UG, PG, Doctoral, and certification courses in Mental Health, Nursing, and Neurosciences, with the Ph.D. program being its flagship.
Ph.D. Programs: Offered in 25 specializations. Admission is based on an entrance exam conducted by NIMHANS. The first-year tuition fee is INR 32,000.
B.Sc. Programs: Among the most popular UG courses, with a total tuition fee of INR 30,000.
While the 2025 placement report is yet to be released, as per the NIRF 2023 data, the median salary stood at INR 6 LPA for PG (2-year) programs and INR 16.09 LPA for PG (3-year) programs.
