CUET UG 2026 May 28 Exam Postponed — What’s the New Date?

Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2026 exams to be postponed due to Id-ul-Zuha holidays.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate or CUET (UG) 2026 exams originally scheduled to take place on 28th May 2026 are now being postponed owing to the revised date for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) holidays announced by the Government of India.

This announcement has been made after the Government of India has modified the holiday schedule for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) to ensure the comfort of students, their parents, and other officials concerned with the conduct of the nationwide entrance examination.

This latest notice of revision comes from the NTA continuing its previous public notice dated May 5, 2026. According to the new notice, CUET (UG) 2026 exams scheduled for May 28, 2026, would not take place as per the earlier date.

Relief for Students Amid Exam Pressure

The decision has left a lot of candidates feeling relieved as well as uncertain. As some of the candidates had finished preparing for the examination in its final stages and some were worried about travel and accommodation.

But the educationists feel that the move was required for maintaining integrity in the conduct of the examination.

"It would be difficult for several states to manage a massive nation-wide examination on a revised holiday schedule. The postponement of the examination is a practical decision taken by the examination authority," opines an education counselor from New Delhi.

Students too joined the discussion on various social networking sites, thanking the authorities for giving prior information instead of notifying at the very last moment.

What the Official Notice Says

According to the NTA, only the exams scheduled to take place on 28th May 2026 have been deferred. All exams which are due on other dates will proceed according to the current schedule until otherwise notified.

The official notification stated:

“In light of the DoPT O.M. No. F. No. 12/3/2023-JCA dated 22.05.2026 regarding the change in the date of the holiday on account of Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid), and in continuation of the Public Notice dated 05 May 2026, it is hereby informed that the CUET (UG) 2026 examinations scheduled to be held on 28.05.2026 in both shifts stand postponed.”

The examination schedule will be updated shortly through the official website of the testing agency. The aspirants have been asked to keep visiting the websites of the NTA and CUET for any new information about the examination date, city intimation letter, and admit card.

Impact on the Overall CUET Schedule

Though the postponement of one exam schedule will have an impact on the entire CUET (UG) 2026 schedule, due consideration will be taken care of by the exam authorities without much difficulty in order to accommodate the postponed exams.

CUET has emerged as one of the most crucial entrance tests in India, acting as the gateway for undergraduate admissions in central universities and certain participating universities. Every year, lakhs of candidates come forward to take this test in the hope of joining top universities.

With such a huge number of examinees appearing every year, the task of rescheduling even a few exams is no small matter and requires a lot of coordination with the examination centers, state governments, security personnel, and even transport authorities.

According to education experts, rescheduling any exam is never an easy affair. There is a lot of back-end work involved, including allocation of centers, issue of admit cards, allocation of invigilators, and other logistical support.

Students Advised to Stay Calm and Continue Preparation

In light of this news, students have been advised to avoid panicking and instead make proper use of the extra time available through revision and practice tests.

As per teachers’ advice, candidates must concentrate on sticking to their normal studies rather than being sidetracked due to the uncertainty about rescheduled dates.

“This is an ideal chance for improving weaknesses and time management skills. Since there is just one date that has been postponed, the preparation process shouldn’t suffer,” said a faculty member from a leading coaching institution in Kota.

Further, it has also been suggested that candidates should not take any rumors or information regarding rescheduling from social media websites into consideration. The only reliable source of information is the official website of NTA.

Revised Dates Expected Soon

Till now, there has been no announcement from the NTA regarding the fresh dates for the rescheduled examination.

Students enrolled for the examinations affected by this cancellation on May 28 are requested to do the following:

  • Visit the websites of CUET and NTA frequently
  • Monitor emails and SMSes registered with CUET/NTA
  • Download the latest admit cards after their release
  • Do not believe in any rumors circulating on social media
  • Prepare continuously for the examination

It must be mentioned here that the CUET (UG) 2026 examination is an important event for all the undergraduate applicants in India. Although it may have caused some temporary disruptions, the authorities have made sure to inform the candidates about the new date of the examination in due time.
