After hearing a series of pleas regarding irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 over four days, the Supreme Court has concluded that a retest would not be justified. The court noted that conducting a new exam would have serious repercussions, affecting over 24 lakh students and disrupting the admission schedule, which would have cascading effects on the medical course timeline, as stated by the Chief Justice of India (CJI). Additionally, during the hearing, the CJI accepted IIT Delhi's opinion on Physics question number 19, where IIT Delhi confirmed that option 4 is correct and option 2 is incorrect. As a result, approximately 4.22 lakh students might lose four marks.
