At a news conference on Tuesday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed that the NEET-UG 2024 final results would be out in two days. This declaration was made soon after the Supreme Court denied requests to cancel and retake the medical entrance exam.Despite accusations of fraud, impersonation, and question paper leaks, the Supreme Court decided that there was no evidence to back up claims of a "systemic breach" in the NEET-UG 2024.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to announce a revised NEET UG 2024 result this week. This follows the Supreme Court's dismissal of pleas seeking the cancellation and re-test of the exam, which was surrounded by controversies. The revised results will be available at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET.
This year, 67 students shared the all-India rank 1. Among them, six were given extra marks due to time lost during the exam because of invigilator errors, and 44 received grace marks for a mistakenly answered physics question. However, with the release of the revised results, the ranks will be updated. The Supreme Court's decision mandates that only one correct answer will be recognized, meaning these 44 candidates' scores will be adjusted to 715 out of 720. They will be ranked below the 14 candidates who scored a perfect 720 and another 70 candidates who scored 716.
The cut-off for general and general-PH category candidates has increased from 720-137 last year to 720-164 this year. The NTA determines the NEET UG percentile based on the highest marks in the all-India common merit list, which will also be updated. This year, 24,06,079 students registered for the exam, with 23,33,297 actually appearing.
